ITO Display Screens

ITO Display Screens

The next time you are in a mall or looking at an in-store display which offers the option to communicate via touch, you may be looking at a screen serviced with ITO touch technology.

In fact, you could be at home browsing our blog (thank you, you are very welcome here), on your cellphone or tablet.

Did you ever wonder how your own touch is dictating the actions on screen? Touchscreen tech is everywhere – our own tech powers a large proportion of this, globally.

If you are new here, you are probably wondering what ITO touch technology actually means. Simply put, ITO (Indium Tin Oxide) can be applied as a thin film to either glass or plastic. ITO is conductive whilst remaining transparent.

Your cellphone screen may have an ITO coating which monitors changes of electrical currents within the conductive layer on the surface of a screen. When you touch the screen, your finger conducts electricity, changing the state in that specific position – this allows the technology required for touchscreens.

ITO is used in display screens because it is both highly conductive and transparent (a prerequisite for a glass display screen!).

It is also robust enough to deal with the daily rigours that may be required – think about those display screens and kiosks with a touchscreen enabled, they can take quite a punishing.

Resistive ITO Display Screens

Resistive ITO touch panels enable completely variable X-Y detection of touch points, we have the ability to provide ready-to-use, complete X-Y resistive touch screens including all bonding, connections and patterning, as well as offering fully shielded ITO touch screens.

Capacitive ITO Display Screens

Capacitive ITO touch screens have higher visible transmission (approximately 90%) than resistive ITO touch screens, which have a visible transmission of approximately 70%. Using index matching technology, we can produce capacitive touch screens with a visible transmission equal to that of uncoated plastic or glass.

Produced on glass or plastic (rigid or flexible), our Indium Tin Oxide display screens are available in sizes ranging up to a maximum of 1,000 mm x 1,000 mm and can be supplied with anti-glare or/and a variety of other finishes.

ITO Touch is a division of ITO market leaders Diamond Coatings. To find out more about our production process and our various products please get in touch with us today.
